DESCRIPTION:

  • Designed in accordance with Safe Work Australia’s First Aid Code of Practice (July 2019).
  • A high-risk workplace is where workers are exposed to hazards that could result in serious injury or illness and would require first aid. Examples of workplaces that may be considered high risk are for these workers. Those who use hazardous machinery, examples include; mobile plant, chainsaws, power presses and lathes. Those who use hazardous substances, examples include; chemical manufacturers, laboratories, horticulture, petrol stations and food manufacturing. Those who are at risk of falls that could result in serious injury, examples include; constructions and stevedoring. Those who carry out hazardous forms of work, examples include; working in confined spaces, welding, demolition, electrical work and abrasive blasting. Those who are exposed to the risk of physical violence, examples include; working alone at night, cash handling or having customers who are frequently physically aggressive. Those who work in or around extreme hot or cold, examples include; foundries and prolonged outdoor work in extreme temperatures.
